In starting my business, I wanted the name to reflect the skills that I had acquired through my work experience and education. Reflecting back, I realized that the types of people I helped differed in age, demographic, business level, and knowledge. The variety of clients coincidentally played into my versatility of skills; hence why I decided to name my business,
YS Versatile.
What exactly do I do?
Well, I can do a variety of things. Hence, the reason why my business name included the word...

definition:
adjective
1. able to adapt or be adapted to
many different functions or activities.
This is one (of many words) that describe my personality and the skills I have acquired throughout my education and work experience.
What is a versatile person? If you say that a person is versatile, you approve of them because they have many different skills. [approval] He had been one of the game's most versatile athletes.
Synonyms: adaptable, flexible, all-around, resourceful.
Now how does this applies to my business and what I do?
Rather than share a long ( and I mean long) list of different skills that I possess, I share with you the differences in the tasks I completed for my first few clients. You will better understand the range of my skills and what I can do for you.
My first client:
A former co-worker who I met as a greeter at the elementary school I worked for. She was an office assistant at the time and we bonded tremendously she became a very good and trusted friend.
She applied for a civil service exam that she paid for. Unfortunately, she was denied the ability to take the exam but she wanted to appeal that decision. She was aware that I started a virtual assistance business, so she asked me to help write a letter that would show she qualified to take it. Now, I have worked on her resume and cover letter for her previously so she trusted that I could write a persuasive letter. She was content with the letter and we sent it off. Since she was a friend, I didn't even think to charge her. She wanted to compensate me for my time writing the letter and even my ability to fax the letter from my phone! She was so impressed with how I managed to do that (this is a possible tutorial opportunity for future clients.
Here is her text to me:
"Please let me know how much, You deserve it for your time and promptness and efficiency and accuracy and patience...and paper and line connections (lol)"
then she wrote "I definitely trust you and that's why I immediately went to you for help"
This is the type of response I want from the clients who need my help and assistance. This is everything to me and why I do what I do. I don't really care for the compensation as much as I enjoy helping those that need me.
The benefit of being a virtual assistant is that I can do what I love, which is help others, while doing other things and my clients can go about their day to do what they need to as well. On this day, she was able to enjoy her 5th grade daughter's school picnic without worrying about this. Here are other ways a virtual assistant can help.
Client 2:
A former PTA board member counterpart who I worked with. I was President of the PTA and she was my treasurer (and incoming president...well deserved). Being on the board, I would create online forms as well as paper forms to increase membership. I created forms to calculate our income for expenses (made it easier to do the math) through excel sheets and formulas. I also created some of the flyers for events and translated them into Spanish. We have worked together hand in hand.
She saw a post for my business and reached out to me! She needed help with cleaning storage on her laptop and knowing how tech savvy I was, she said I immediately thought of you. At this point, I said definitely without any intention of being compensated either.
I spent 2.5 hours at her home on her laptop (while our kids planned in the pool). I wrote down everything I did. I showed her the difference between what her storage was and is now. I set up her Dropbox and one drive to sync so that her documents would not take up space on her laptop and she could still access her online documents offline. She was super grateful and she paid me my rate even though I told her that she did so much for the PTA board that I wouldn't mind doing this for her just for testimonial.
In being in the PTA, I gained some social media management experience that helped promote membership, our events, and build relationships with the parents within the community through social media. Social media marketing was critical in upkeeping engagement during the pandemic and improved our funding significantly throughout the year.
As you can see, these clients were very different. Here is a list of other areas I can assist in:
Troubleshoot common computer issues
Create a variety of documents, format existing documents
Organize emails, data systems
In this digital market, promote your business via setting up social media (set up Facebook and Instagram pages), create a system to schedule posts to both pages simultaneously
Increase your social media engagement
